"Your Ability To Speak Well is Your Most Important Asset in Business
and Society."
~ Dr. Hugh P. Fellows, PhD.

In this module we will focus on three skills you MUST master if you are going to reach MILLIONAIRE status, Communication, Negotiation, and Presentation.

I want to say at the very beginning... you can't be a good negotiator without being a good communicator AND you can't be a good presenter without being a good communicator.

And, while this does have some relevance to the "Speak for Cash" training series, if you never want to become a professional speaker and earn a living that way, you still must learn the skills to become A GREAT COMMUNICATOR!

Do you realize you spend about three-fourths of your waking hours in some form of communication? What I find so incredible is that not in high-school, nor in colleges do they require any courses on LISTENING or SPEAKING! Did you ever think about that?

You talk more than you write yet they require you to know how to write well but not speak well. Anyway, in this module I'm going to have you focus on learning to become a better communicator.

And when you seriously look at the art of verbal communication it is not as easy as one might think... just look at this example:

a body of water (sea)

a letter in the alphabet (C)

a musical note (C-sharp)

to understand something (Do you see?)

a Bishop's seat of power (The Holy See)

to investigate something (Run and see what he's doing.)

to use one's eyes (Can't you see that?)

While it isn't necessary to psychoanalyze the person you are speaking with, it is necessary to know and understand the limitations of the words you use, how they will be perceived by others, and know that it is YOUR responsibility to communicate clearly and know your listeners frame of reference.

It is to that end is the goal of this module.

A speaker tries to communicate by making his ideas, thoughts, or information clear and by making them persuasive to listeners.

You, as the speaker/communicator have the greatest responsibility. I love the following quote from Elliott H. Newcomb, American Education Publications chief executive...

"He should ask himself if he really has something to say to the particular audience before he agrees to speak - and be sure the answer is affirmative - preferably emotionally affirmative as well as intellectually so - otherwise he shouldn't speak."

Communication is an essential part of our business and social fabric. Yet, most are unskilled in this important activity. Get deep in this module and make sure you are not guilty of being a poor communicator.

Think on this... I've never met a poor communicator who was a millionaire!
